Song & Dance Super Stars (Grades K-2), Kathy Marshall
Welcome to the young world of Song and Dance! This class offers and encourages your child MANY opportunities and participation with:
Singing songs while doing motions to songs.
Dancing to upbeat fast and slow songs using rhythm instruments, ribbons, beanbags, etc.
Performing short, age appropriate plays such as Peter Rabbit, The Lion's Dinner, The Little Red Hen, etc.
Children are given props to wear and or use as part of their production numbers.
This is totally a hands on class where EVERY child performs and excels at his/her individual level.
Music selections are currently used in Carmel Clay Schools; adaptations by Mrs. Marshall.

Inspiration will come from exposure to how artists of the past and present work in this medium. This class will focus on the development of the student's individual expression. The Singer’s Theater Jr. (Grades 2-4), Katy Gentry NEW TIME!
This 8-week dynamic class will introduce young performers to the various styles of acting, music, and dance that are creatively placed in today’s contemporary musical theater as well as Golden Globe nominated shows like GLEE. During our one-hour sessions students will be learning basic improvisations skills, stage terminology, scene and character study, and focused ways to use their vocal, acting, and dance ability to become triple threat performers! This hands-on writing workshop focuses on the writing process and incorporates various techniques and exercises from the Story Workshop Method®. We will play a variety of word games, read out loud, and complete writing exercises such as Take-A-Place, How-To's, Epistolary Forms, How-It-Happens, Parodies, Satires, Comparison and Contrast, Model Tellings, Point-of-View, Steeple Chase, and Journal Writing to name a few! Students will write in class and read their work out loud, which will not only help them energize their storytelling abilities, it will also help them find their writing voice and fine tune their own writing process. This class provides students with "the basics" in the technical aspects of a theatrical production. One of the most overlooked aspects of a theatrical production from an educational standpoint; Stagecraft is considered a technical rather than an artistic field as the focus of stagehands is usually on the practical implementation of a designer's artistic vision. Topics covered in this class include constructing and rigging scenery, hanging and focusing of lighting, design and procurement of costumes, and more!

Poetry Perfection (Grades 9-12), Elizabeth Krasnoff Levy
In this class the student will learn to create poetry of self, of place, and of interest. They will consider and use figurative language and mine their own experiences to develop and craft poetry in a variety of styles. Focus will also be given on the student developing their own voice and finely tuning their word choice and poetic interpretation of life experience as well as the synthesizing process that writing brings to our culture and our sense of self. In addition, the student will learn how to deliver their poetry in a readers' theater setting so that the performance of the work gives the written word additional substance and depth. We will look at some of our favorite poets, analyze their works and use their examples as guiding forces to develop our own works. Poets to be explored will include Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Shel Silverstein, W.H. Auden, Emily Dickinson, Octavio Paz and others.

Auditioning (Grades 7-12), Actors Theatre of Indiana
A seasoned actor serves as “audition coach” to help young people develop and improve their audition skills. All audition formats will be covered: the cold reading, the monologue, the vocal audition, the dance audition etc. With the guidance of the instructor students will prepare audition pieces and will receive instant feedback on their progress. The last two sessions will be devoted to developing a “winning” monologue or song to be presented before an audience.
