MS is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Some symptoms include loss of balance, problems moving, problems with coordination, double vision uncontrollable rapid eye movements, tingling, crawling, and burning feelings, decreased attention span, slurred speech, and fatigue. These symptoms can be very hard to deal with about 300,000 people in the United States alone have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and 200 new people are diagnosed every week. They estimate that in the United States there are between 8000-10,000 children that have been diagnosed with MS.

Ongoing Fun: Earn A Scouting Badge Here!

When is a candy store more than a candy store? When it’s the perfect place to earn a scouting badge, too!

Developed in conjunction with The Second Story Playhouse, the Simply Sweet Shoppe has created unique opportunities for Girl and Boy Scouts to earn Try-It’s/Merit Badges. The offerings for Fall, 2009/2010 scouting will be:

SSP Partners with the Humane Society!: Weekend workshops with animals! "Pet Project" - A great opportunity for your troop to collect donated items for Humane Society, make a difference, all while having FUN! Call for details!
Back Stage Pass ($5.00/Scout): Includes discussion on stage/theater types, learn about stagecraft and front of house operations, theater history and why productions are a LOT more than merely actors on a stage. Kids will also try their hand at a few theater/drama games!
How to Operate a Candy Store ($5.00/Scout): Includes shoppe tour, discussion on planning new business start to finish, lesson in wholesale pricing & retail, kids are put to work helping fill an order. (the treat bag order they fill is for them…Shhh!)
